Procrastination

My BIG problem.  Why? Fear.  I have no control of the outcome so I’m fearful of of the unknown. I’m tired of being afraid. The different responses I receive over the phone is just a part of doing business.  I don’t need to take all of this personally. Unfortunately I do.  How do I get control of my feelings? Recognizing what is actually going on inside my head when I make these calls is the first step.  The second step I’ll talk about later.

The Phone

Picking up the phone and calling leads is a CHALLENGE.  Everyday I have to face my fear of the phone.  You know what I mean.  The phone now weighs 10,000 and I can’t pick it up.  I’m afraid of how the other person is going to react to my calling them.  Even though they asked to be called!  I don’t want to upset anyone nor do I want to be hung up on.  Yet the only way through this is to pick up the phone and make the calls.

I have to and choose to accept that I will trip over my tongue many times before this irrational fear leaves me.  I am willing to go through this process.

How to Stop Failing in Network Marketing

Network marketing is presented to you as an easy, effortless business. A business that you can work part-time–create a huge income for yourself. This sounds great since you are sick and tired of working long hours for someone else.

So you go for it. You sign up with a great company that has great products. Your sponsor tells you to make a list of family, friends, and acquaintances to “share” this great opportunity with. Get them to sign up and in a short period of time you and your massive downline will be rich. Or, so you seem to believe based on what your sponsor and upline sponsor tells (hypes to) you.

Soon, you realize that network marketing is not easy and effortless. You have no downline. Your sponsor has left the company and the upline sponsor is not helping you. He/she says you are not putting enough effort into building your business. Implying that your “belief” is not strong enough. In addition you are in debt a few thousand dollars due to buying product, attending every company meeting, and buying worthless leads. You are frustrated and angry. “What am I doing wrong?” you keep asking yourself. You receive no answer. You quit network marketing. Now you are in the 97% who fail at network marketing group. So what!? You have had enough!

Yet you still believe in the concept of network marketing. You join one company after another hoping “things” will change. Nothing changes except you are deeper in debt. Deep down inside you believe a successful business is waiting to come forth. One not built on hype, friends, family, acquaintances or bad leads. You know something is missing, but what?

Change your Focus

You were told to focus on the business and the products. Which means the focus is on you. You want the huge downline and residual checks. You want the big house with the Olympic size pool and six cars. You need to change your focus. First, network marketing is not about you. It is about providing solutions to people’s challenges. How you can help them. Be of service to them. Remember the people you talk to do not care about you, network marketing, or how great the company compensation plan is. They need solutions.

Listen to people

Second, you must listen to people. Ask them questions. How can you provide a solution to their challenges if you do not know what they are? People will not openly tell you their challenges. You may have to ask a lot of questions to find out what they need and what they fear. This process is building a relationship. People have to be comfortable with you. They have to like you before they tell you anything about themselves.

Give away Information

Third, give them information to look over. Not information about your business opportunity. This information must be generic and it should address or touch on the person’s needs. Give away the information in the form of an e-book, cd, dvd,mp3, etc. An example of this is on my site at www.mlmgoodies.com.  Click on the links under ‘Blogroll’ to understand what I do. I follow up with the person(s) who receive the free information and begin to build a relationship with them. You should do the same.

Network marketing is changing. The business is no longer about products, opportunity meetings, and the compensation plan. Making lists and harassing family, friends, and acquaintances is old school methodology. The new way of building a business is about providing information to people who need solutions to their challenges. Listening and asking questions helps us build relationships with people. Remember this business is not about us. It is about the other person.

Leads

When I purchase leads I need to be trained on how to contact the prospect/partner.  In addition they have to be targeted leads.  The type of lead that want to be contacted.

The companies I use are Leader’s Club and First Class MLM tools.   Both have very good leads and training.  Both are third party training.  Not geared toward any particular company.  Leader’s club teaches you the nuts and bolts  on how to develop and build a network marketing business.  First Class MLM Tools teaches you the nuts and bolts, in addition to thoroughly explaining what network marketing is and is not via a movie presentation on their site.  This movie is incredible and I strongly recommend you watch it.  Click on the yellow button link to see what I mean.  Click on the text links under “blogroll” to check out Leader’s Club.

Training

Since I don’t like making the infamous list of names I looked into Attraction Marketing.  This is a good way to build a business, yet you need at least $300 a month and more to market your business.  Not good for me.  What is good for me is buying leads.  Targeted leads where the prospect/partner is expecting your call.  In addition I am trained in how to approach and talk to the lead.  I use two lead sources. I found out that not one company has a complete training module.  There are gaps which another company’s training module will fill in.   I will let you know which companies I use for leads and training.

At the Beginning2

Now what?  Get the training from your sponsor or upline.  Before that find out who is in your upline.  You may need their help down the road.

Training.  That is a broad subject amongst network marketers.  I will say this.  I don’t like to create lists of family, friends, and acquaintances.  Makes me feel sleezy.  I’ve done this in the past and now I belong to the “NFL” club: No Friends Left.  So I purchase targeted leads.  The people are expecting me to call them.

At the Beginning

Let’s start at the beginning.

My name is Sandy.  I’ve been involved with network marketing for 10 years.  Never really worked the business end of it.  Now I want to develop a network marketing business.  I’m sick and tired of living from check to check (I’m on disability).  I want and need something better for my life.  So with fear of failure inside of me, I am jumping into building a network marketing business.
